December 5, 2011

HELLO FAMILY!!! No, it hasn't snowed here, but I had to get your attention somehow!

This past week has been an adventure. Ups and down's and everything in between.

During the week we had an appt. fall through, no one was home (that happened a lot this past week) Good thing for back up plans. We were in this neighborhood two weeks ago. When we were there I saw a family. They were busy and we didn't have time to talk to them as we had another place to be. Anyways, when the people weren't home on Tuesday (we knew where this family lives) Prefect, so we knocked on their door. We heard them inside. Suzette answered the door. Cute little family and opened to us. We told her that we were lead to her door and felt we have what she wants for her and her family. We went back the next day. In the mean time she did her "research", she looked at other websites and not the one we gave her. (Seriously!) She loves that we are all about family. The only problem she has is Joseph Smith and the seer stones. She didn't even want us to leave her the "Strange Book of Mormon" because it made her "really uncomfortable with it being in her home." but she loves everything else. That was so strange for Sister Ploth and me. We didn't know what to do but testify. We go back at the end of this week. Pray for us that we will be lead and guided by the spirit.

Our cool gator Brenda dropped us on Wednesday. She blames her non-English speaking husband. The spirit has told us that she just doesn't want to try. Lazy. We were in contact with her every day and she didn't like that. She doesn't want to act on the truth of the Book of Mormon. Our hearts broke because she knows the truth.

Now for Wednesday night's experience at Seminal State. We helped a lady Eva with her presentation in her world religion class. It was a neat experience but it wasn't like what we thought it would be. She asked us questions about missionary work and how we came to decide to be a missionary. We got to bear testimony of personal revelation and of the prophet to a class room of 30 people! We put together packets of pass-a-long cards, Articles of Faith and Family Proclamation. We haven't gotten a response yet from anyone, but soon, we pray for. We also got to learn a little more about other religions surrounding us.
I received a confirmation that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's kingdom once again the earth. It just makes sense! I love when the spirit talks, comforts and confirms truth to us over and over again!

Our top two gators Jerry, is doing so good. His confidence level is low- but he told us a couple of days ago that he has been so happy for the 5 weeks that we have known him. He came to church on Sunday! And loved it. He also came to the ward Christmas party on Saturday. He enjoyed himself. We think he was a little drunk. We got to get him off that stuff. But we sure do love him; he is the most fun 50 year old ever!! I wish I could record his voice messages that he leaves us that we have saved because they are a hoot! You all would love this guy!!
Ray a member referral, is also doing so good! He came to church as well and is looking forward to seeing us and coming back to church. We started teaching him in a member’s home 2 weeks ago. Normally our lesson's start with "God loves us and we are his children." but with Ray we started with “There is God, He is real, and you can know" He is learning so much with the no back ground of God or our Savior Jesus Christ. He is getting to know them! LOVE IT!!

Let me tell you one more funny experience real quick. Friday night we were on one end of our area, and we biked to the other end of our area. It took us 2 hours! My bum hurt so bad afterword! Soooo bad! Anyways, we met a guy, Chris from New York (we've been meeting a lot of New Yorkers recently!) He was interesting. He is "married to Jesus" once we introduced ourselves as "Sisters" he was so HAPPY! I'M YOUR BROTHER!!" as we left, he EMBRACED us. First me, then Sister Ploth. It was SO FUNNY!!! We biked off laughing.
The Ward Christmas party was a lot of fun! They had a whole roasted pig. A lot of people came. 18 were non-members. The members brought all of them. Good start to a good member-missionary relationship. We are just waiting for them to be ready and prepared for us to teach.

That is it for this week. I hope you all are having a wonderful winter season as I bask in the sun of Florida! It is so nice to go outside and not have to worry about the COLD! No snow here.
P.S. That same little boy that called me "Elder Durr" last week called Sister Ploth "Elder Durr" at the Christmas party. Elder Durr you are EVERYWHERE and so loved here in Florida. Keep up the good work guy!

If anyone needs a good read "It is Better to Look Up" by Elder Carl B. Cook (I read it this morning! AMAZING!)
