HELLO EVERYONE! How is everyone doing? I hope great!
This week has been all over the place! I don’t know where the week went and what I even did. Ha-ha it all mushes together and so it is a challenge to spread it all out and share with you the miracles and blessings that the Lord has given us.
We have had an amazing week for seeing our investigators, less-actives and our members. We have been doing service for a really less-active family that we hope will receive a soft heart to come back to church. When we biked there this week, the wife told us that she needs to come back to church. Positive! We hope that that will rub off on her hubby and 27 yr. old son. We also saw Bernard this week. We reviewed with him the message of the restoration and that we now have a modern day prophet. . He FREAKED out! Oh man, it was crazy, but as we testified and told him that this is possible because God is the same today tomorrow and forever, his heart was softened and he accepted the invitation to read from the Book of Mormon. We went back on Saturday and things were 100% better. He is a cool guy and really loves learning about the gospel, the spirit is teaching him and we can see it and feel it. His wife Latasha doesn't like it so much, because we are two pretty white girls that are talking to her husband, who is always smiling and happy when we leave. She doesn't understand the spirit and so we are the excuse. We go back this week while she is home to talk to her . . . again! We love this family, they are coming along. I am learning a lot from teaching them. Yancy- our New Yorker- is doing awesome! He wants to take us to a magic game. Lol he is progressing slowly but we see the potential. Carmen is doing awesome. She wasn't able to come to church today because of her health so we hope that doesn't push her baptism day back. . But it is a possibility.
I went on exchanges with week. Sister Ploth went to College Park and I stayed here in Lake Mary. The Sister that I was with for 24 hour was Sister Reid- the daughter of the NFL Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach. She is cool and I learned a lot from her :-) But I was SOO happy to have Sister Ploth back. We also had our Multi-Regional Conference. Elder Ballard was the main speaker on Sunday, with Elder Gonzales and Elder Edgley and Sister Esplin. It was so cool. It was broadcast to Georgia, Florida and South Carolina. This was my first time for one of these. It was neat! After that we joined the community yesterday after church. There is the Habitat for Humanity’s project. President Holladay the stake President gave a blessing on the home, the ground, the family and all the people who will be volunteering their time. There were so many different religions like Islamic, 7th day, Jewish, and a few others. They all gave their blessings but by far the best one where the spirit was most powerful was done by the Priesthood! It was so cool to be there and to talk to all the people that were there! This is going to be a great opportunity to serve in the community and get to know people.
Other than that all is well here in Florida, The weather is perfect and I love it so much! I love being a servant of our Father in Heaven and I am learning so much! I love you all so much and hope that you are all well and happy! Thank you for your support and letters.
Sister Shannon Durr
