Hello EVERYONE!!
How is my dear Family? I am excited to "report" to you about this past week. Everything that I have done and learned. I love how in missionary work you do the same things EVERYDAY. .. but yet everyday is SO DIFFERENT! We meet so many different people, we teach so many different people and even though we plan and do the same things the Lord knows that He needs to provide for us different people and circumstances to learn and to love the work we are doing. Sister Wilks and I talked about that all day yesterday. . . true facts.
As far as last week went. . No hurricane hit us, we were expecting rain all weekend but we only had wind, biking against the wind.. . I have strong legs! It has been a great week for us weather wise, even though it was hot, the wind cooled us down :-)
Transfers happened, we have a new Zone Leader. Elder Bennett from Draper. Hard worker and fun to serve with. Since we work in the same area with them we see the Zone Leaders A LOT. . so we have to learn to love them :-) not too hard to do for us.
The Table started up again at UCF! Every Wednesday. . it was SO FUN!! Students were EVERYWHERE!!! We talked to so many people! We set up times in our following days to meet with some promising people, and most of them cancelled because they do their "homework" about Mormons on the "Internet" and learn that this church is not for them. I wish people would give us a chance to talk to them and tell them that this church, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is for everyone! The elect will hear His voice. We are teaching some awesome people right now.
Nada- from Africa- she is so ready for the gospel. . she just needs to see that she is ready for it. We will be seeing her and her sister this week.
David- We met riding bikes on day. We taught him and his roommate, David came to church the next day! It was awesome. He gave the closing prayer. . "Dear God, thank you, Amen" We go back this week to teach them more. He really enjoyed church! and is planning on coming back. He kind of looks like lil' Wayne with the dreads. . .
On Saturday night we were going to see one of our recent converts and ran into a guy that has been interested in meeting with us. tender mercy. . . and so we set up a time to go and see him and his roommate that he introduced to us. We go back the next day which was Sunday, they are all inside and the front door area REEKED, stunk of WEED!!! We knew they were inside smoking. . the member that we had with us goes "what are you going to do?" I said "Well we can't teach them." The guy comes out. . high as a kite and says "We are leaving soon, so we can't talk. I lost your number so I couldn't call." I looked at him and said
"You smoking in there?"
"ah. . yeah. .  but we are leaving soon. I am so sorry"
"We can't teach you when you are high anyways, so here is our number again, call us when you are sober."
"Okay, I am so sorry."
Just standing there I was getting the biggest headache ever!! UG! Students. . and they childish games. The elect will Hear His voice.
Here is a cool experience that I want to share with you regarding transfers.
Two Wednesday's ago, during splits, we did a temple tour, The AP's were there, so I tried to get some transfer info from one of them. He wouldn't tell me anything but I did ask him if I was being transferred. . He said "You can pray about it." Me "I have prayed about it and I am staying in College Park." He said "Okay then, you don't need me for any information."
Fast forward to Tuesday night of this week. We were on the Phone with the AP's, the same Elder. "Sister Durr, I have a really cool story to tell you. You know how you asked about transfers? Well when we talked you were on the transfer board, to be transferred, but then last minute (Sunday night) The Lord told us other wise." So here I am in College Park. Coolness right. I knew that I still needed to be here, and work! The Lord hears and answers prayers, President and the AP's listened to the Spirit and here I am still working Hard in College Park. I am supposed to be here! What a cool testimony builder! So I KNOW that when it gets hard, and no one wants to listen or be baptized. . . I am supposed to be here to learn something! That can be applied to every day life!
I love you all so much! and Pray every night for you all.
P.S. GUESS WHAT!!!!? MY HALF BIRTHDAY IS ON FRIDAY!! hahaha Happy Half Birthday Sister Durr! Time is flying!
