Sorry it has been a while since I've posted Sister Durr's letters! I just got her emails forwarded to me, so hopefully we will be back on a weekly schedule! Here is her letter from May 2nd.
Hello!!
How is everyone doing!? I hope all is well and that everyone had a good week. As for my week, get ready for the awesomeness.
We worked so hard this week. We biked everywhere! Last week I told all of you that we were going full bike. Well on Tuesday that was reversed! We are back again to car share. So Even though we have a car, we share it now with Elder Zuniga and Elder Rice. Elder Zuniga is our district leader. We don't need to worry about not getting a far away apartment now. We knew that the Lord would provide and He did. We kept the faith. President Hall said "When we bike baptisms go up" This is true because this past week most of the people we contact we met not knocking doors! We stopped them while they were walking and most of them are promising! The Lord is really blessing us. This is His work so why wouldn't he bless us! Right! We did do a lot of tracting as well! Finals are over today and so we have LOTS of people to contact! We are excited to see what this week will hold for us!!
On Wednesday we were on campus again. We were the ONLY table. The only people out there passing out cards and talking to people! The assistants were with us, so we talked to a lot more people! It was an incredible day! We will no longer do the table on campus until August.Thursday was good. We taught a former investigator from 2 years ago! It was very interesting. Too much detail to share but he has a lot of interesting opinion and doesn't like the whole three kingdoms thing! haha why not!? One the way home from this lesson we were riding our bikes and out Zone leaders saw us, they followed us until they caught up to our bikes. Finally catching up they made the scariest noise! haha we screamed it was SO FUNNY!!!! Made our night!
There are lot of different kind of people here in the college area. Last weekend we met and talked to A LOT of Muslims! This week seemed to be special for the Jews. They always say the same things to us. "Sorry I am Jew." One door we knocked on the person said on the other side "I'm a Jew. I am not interested in Jesus Christ." I said in return "But Jesus was a Jew." as the closed the door on us. The first will be last. They aren't ready to accept our Lord and Savior yet. I just think it is interesting!
This past Sunday was stake conference. There was special new convert/investigator meeting. President and Sister Hall came. It is always a treat to see them and hear them speak! I enjoyed all the meetings for stake conference but was bummed out that no investigators came (we are currently working on getting investigators, but no recent converts came) It was too early in the morning for them to get out of Bed. lol We taught an awesome young man from Mississippi Sunday afternoon. He is so ready for baptism. He wants to be baptized and knows that the Book of Mormon is true. He is the one that we contacted last week and told us that he was "looking for our church" He is solid. We meet with him again on Wednesday. We will be starting the program with him so he can stop smoking. We are excited to meet with him regularly. He is awesome!!! The Lord really prepares His people for the restored gospel. Whenever missionaries in my zone set a new baptism date we get a text about it. There was EIGHT people that accepted a baptism date! We can see the work progressing and moving along!
I love this church and the gospel with all my heart! I love each of you and pray for you every night!!! Until next week! or Until SUNDAY! I hope that you all are getting our wonderful mom something awesome for her special day!
